The Palace of Versailles is an absolute must-see if you are in Paris. It’s about a half hour train so it is an incredibly easy trip.
Approaching the Palace is amazing. It is incredibly ornate and it’s very interesting to see the apartments along each side of the Palace. We had to line up outside of the Palace for about half an hour so make sure to arrive early to get the most out of your day.
It was great to walk around the inside of the Palace and apartments as they were all set up like they were in the 1700’s. We also walked through the Hall of Mirrors, which was the main element of King Louis XIV of France’s vision of Versailles. It was meant to be a room to reflect on his vision of himself as the King and the grandeur of France.
Unfortunately, I was there mid Summer and it was incredibly busy but I still think it was worth it to see such a beautiful building.
Louis XIV considered the gardens to be just as important as the Palace and the construction of the gardens lasted over 40 years. The gardens cover a massive expanse and have different elements in each section.
It could take hours to wander through all the gardens so arrive early and top tip: buy your garden tickets online! They are separate to the Palace tickets and the line is crazy long if you try to buy them on the day.
It was a fantastic way to spend a day amongst history and splendour.
