Annecy is a gorgeous little town in the east of France, near the border of Switzerland and Italy. It is peaceful and incredibly picturesque. It is easily accessible by train, which is what we did coming from Milan.

The town of Annecy sits on the feet of the French Alps which you can see from all around the town. The Lac d’Annecy, or Lake of Annecy is a gorgeous lake right beneath the mountains. You can rent paddle boats or small boats to take out onto the lake!

It wouldn’t be a visit to France without some fondue and a visit to the Fromagerie. We grabbed some cheese, saucisson (a cured meat), a baguette, chocolate, and champagne, and had a beautiful picnic in the park next to the lake.

The Pont des Amours, or Lovers’ Bridge, is a bridge in the park that offers beautiful views of the Lake and mountains.

The town has gorgeous coloured buildings, canals, and small shops everywhere – it was lovely to stroll around the streets.

The Château d’Annecy is a small castle built in one of the canals in Annecy. It is such an interesting structure that now houses restaurants.
Annecy was a lovely, quiet stop on our whirlwind trip of Europe. Definitely worth a visit!
